The Kevin Prater Band at Victoria's Restaurant
An intimate evening of Bluegrass, Bluegrass Gospel, Classic Country and Grassed Up Vintage Rock for one of the hottest bands currently on the circuit. Kevin Prater has been touring the world for 40 years, entertaining fans with his many God given talents. He has been leading The Kevin Prater Band for 14 years.
2020 will mark the 40th Anniversary of Kevin Prater's Bluegrass journey that has taken him to 24 Countries and 49 States. Over the course of his career Kevin has shared the stage with many legends of Bluegrass, which included, Jerry Williamson & Redwing, Timmy Cline Band, Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain, Mark Phillips & Third Generation, The Bluegrass Brothers (earning a nomination as "Banjo Player of the Year") and most notably, his twelve years with Grammy Nominated, James King Band (Kevin was part of two, "Album of the Year", a "Song or the Year" and a "Recorded Event of the Year", award winning recorded projects. Additionally Kevin, upon his High School graduation, Kevin went to work for Dolly Parton at Dollywood for three years prior to The James King Band.
Currently Kevin Prater is in the 12th year as Owner/Leader of The Kevin Prater Band, touring throughout the USA and Canada. They have recorded four CD's. Their current CD, "All I Ever Wanted" released on Patuxent Music label, finished 2018 as #65 of the top 200, World Wide on the Roots Music Charts. This project is a true project of Pike County, Kentucky. The title track, "All I Ever Wanted" was written by Kevin, 22 years prior to release. The projects most requested and most popular for radio air play, "Barefoot Country Girl" was written by Kevin's dear friend and Boss, Keith Hatfield, Owner CARQUEST Auto Parts in Pikeville, KY.
Completing The Kevin Prater Band's "Pure Kentucky Bluegrass" sound, from Hurley, VA., filling the guitar position and vocals, Ryan Lester. On Banjo, Dobro and vocals, Jake Burrows from Randelman, NC. His brother Adam (Aka, The Dancing Fiddler) fills the Fiddle spot, vocals and is also considered the bands funny man. Lastly and newest member of the band, on Bass, Daniel Pugh from NC.
In addition to leading The KPB, Kevin is Owner or Sound Makers Recording Studio in Belcher, KY. He has recorded over 1,000 albums of various genres of music in the last 25 years.
